YOUR CHURCH Membership Requirements

December 27, 2024 By Kevin Stone

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to establish and communicate the requirements for membership at YOUR CHURCH.

Scope

This policy contains the minimum requirements for becoming a YOUR CHURCH member.

Responsibility

As with all policies, procedures, and other documentation contained in the Management System, all ministry area leaders must ensure the details of this policy are known and followed by all YOUR CHURCH paid staff and ministry area volunteers. The primary responsibility for this policy rests with the Executive Pastor.

Policy

To become a member of YOUR CHURCH, an individual must, at a minimum, complete the following requirements:

  1. Become a Christian by confessing belief in Jesus Christ, repenting, and being baptized by immersion. If an individual has been baptized by immersion before attending YOUR CHURCH, they must inform the ministry area leader and briefly describe where, when, etc.
  2. Attend YOUR CHURCH’s Membership Class. The Connections Pastor schedules and facilitates the class periodically. Should the timing of the scheduled classes not coincide with an individual’s need to become a member, the Connections Pastor (at their discretion) may schedule classes on an “as needed” basis.
  3. Read and sign YOUR CHURCH’s membership covenant only after meeting the above requirements.

Regardless of meeting the above requirements, an individual is not a member until their status has been changed to “Member” in the church database. They should not be given any responsibility requiring membership until their church database status is “Member.”

Additionally, only the Executive Pastor or their designee may change an individual’s status in the church database.

Questions/Clarification

Questions or other clarification needed should be directed to the Executive Pastor. No deviation from this policy is permitted without the express approval of the Executive Pastor.
